This November 4, elect Matt Courtoy for Marietta School Board (Ward 3)
About Me
Hello friends and neighbors,
I've loved being a part of the community of Marietta since my wife, Kathryn, and I moved here in 2005. Our love for this adopted hometown has grown along with our family — as has my desire to serve our city and neighbors.
Many of you may know me as the head of the Dad's Club car line every Friday at West Side Elementary. Others may recognize me as a Small Group Leader at Fusion Youth at Marietta First United Methodist Church. Or you've seen me in the stands at a Spirit of Dance recital, cheering on the Marietta Blue Devils basketball teams, or perhaps backstage tearing down a set after a middle school play. Acts of service, I believe, are the ultimate way to show that you care about something — and I am ready to take that service to the next level.
I am excited to announce that I'm running for Marietta City Schools’ Board of Education in November, representing Ward 3. My predecessor, A.B. Almy, set the bar very high with her community-focused leadership for our ward. With her blessing, and my eagerness, I'm up to the task and enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve our city in a broader capacity. I'm officially filing on Friday, but I wanted you to be the first to know.
I don't come from a political background, and I believe our schools should be free from the influence of partisan politics. Our job, as public servants, is to address the diverse needs of our families in a supportive and transparent environment. If elected, I commit to bringing thoughtful optimism for a brighter future — for our children, teachers, and parents.
As we head into this November's election, I would love your support. Here's how you can pitch in:
First and foremost, VOTE! The election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for Public Service Commissioner, along with elections for Marietta’s Mayor, City Council, and Board of Education.
Voter Registration Deadline: The last day to register to vote for the November 4 election is Monday, October 6, 2025 — whether you're registering by mail, in person, or online.
Advance Voting: Advance in-person absentee voting begins on October 14, 2025. You can vote at any location during the advance voting period.
Absentee Ballot Applications: You can request an absentee ballot before the deadline of August 8, 2025.
Second, PUT OUT A YARD SIGN! The uber-talented Scott Kinney of Kinney Design created my campaign logo. If you'd like to show your support with a yard sign, please message me your address and I'll personally deliver it to your door! We may have some t-shirts soon too!
Third, TELL YOUR FRIENDS. If you have friends in Ward 3, help spread the word by forwarding this email or sending them to my Facebook or Instagram page. Feel free to forward this email or share my email address (MattCforWard3@gmail.com) with anyone who might be interested in learning more about me or my thoughts on issues that matter to them.
Lastly, VOTE. I know I mentioned that already, but it's important that you exercise your right — especially on the local level, where you can make a huge impact. If you're in Marietta’s Ward 3, I would love your vote.
Thanks so much for your time.
Your neighbor,
Matt Courtoy
